100 THINGS

The Mama's List April 2010

1. In a round-about way, I was named after the Barry Manilow song Mandy.
2. I am married to an amazing man.
3. I love my husband.
4. My birthday is on Christmas.
5. People often forget my birthday because it is on Christmas. Most of the time that doesn’t bother me, but sometimes it does.
6. We have 2 kiddos - a girl and a boy
7. I like to make things. It makes me feel crafty.
8. When my alarm goes off I always hit the snooze, usually more than once.
9. I am not a morning person.
10. I love to read.
11. I can’t name all of the books I have read.
12. I don’t like having my picture taken.
13. My first kiss was behind the baptismal in my church during Vacation Bible School. I was 13 and he had braces.
14. I cry too easily and a lot.
15. I love white Christmas lights.
16. The opening orchestration from Phantom of the Opera makes me cry - every time I hear it. (see #14)
17. I have one sibling, a younger brother. I think he’s great.
18. My dream job is being a great stay-at-home, crafty soccer mom.
19. I want to have at least 1 more kid.
20. I have worked as a waitress, cook, State Senate page, bean field inspector, barista, truck stop cashier, map copier and cataloger, retail sales associate, secretary, paint store employee and safety intern all before I was 21.
21. My favorite job was working at a surface coal mine.
22. I was on the Mine Rescue Team at the coal mine.
23. I love shopping. REALLY love shopping. Especially bargain shopping.
24. I buy things just because they are on sale. I think that’s bad.
25. I get frustrated with my consumerism.
26. I am obsessive to the point of certifiable about document formatting, spacing and font selection on documents I write for work.
27. I have a B.S. in Occupational Safety and Health with an emphasis in Science and Engineering from Montana Tech in Butte, MT.
28. High school was easy for me.
29. College was harder, much harder.
30. I procrastinate. A lot.
31. I don’t go to church. I’m not really into organized religion. But I believe in God. And Karma. Definitely Karma.
32. But I don’t have any issues with anyone else belonging to a church. To each his own.
33. I have an insatiable sweet tooth.
34. One of my biggest pet peeves is parents who park in the handicapped spot (that shouldn’t) at daycare when picking up their kids. Way to set an example.
35. I was a bit of a wild woman in college.
36. I am very good at being passive aggressive.
37. I was a member of the Women’s Mining Team in College. We competed in Reno, NV and took 3rd Place that year.
38. I can knit and sew fairly well.
39. I have 3 tattoos.
40. I am currently very obsessed with the Twilight Saga.
41. My favorite ice cream is Tin Roof Sundae, but Cold Stone Cake Batter is a really close second.
42. I’ve been to Mardi Gras. That’s all you need to know.
43. I am pro-choice.
44. I love old school country and rockabilly. 
45. I also love Britney Spears. A lot. Even after she went bat-shit, ham-sandwich crazy.
46. My favorite color used to be bright pink, but now I would have to say it is bright turquoise blue with pink a close second.
47. I’m a huge fan of the cheesy movie Center Stage. I watch it weekly.
48. I’ m good with remembering pop culture and movie tidbits. I’m good, but my brother is a rainman.
49. Facebook is my new obsession – I check it multiple times a day to see what other people are doing. I am a bit of a voyeur.
50. I can really hold a grudge and sometimes have a hard time letting it go.
51. I think anyone who wants to get married (except for people related to each other) should have the legal right to do so.
52. I miss Seattle.
53. I love to read and if I start a good book, I will stay up all night to finish it.
54. Without my glasses, I’m helpless.
55. I want more tattoos.
56. My wedding ring is the prettiest I have ever seen. It has my birthstone, a London Blue Topaz in the center.
57. I met my husband at an occupational safety conference.
58. I have to hold up my hands to tell my left from right.
59. I still get my left and my right mixed up.
60. Heartfelt commercials and cards can make me cry. Especially if they involve children. (see #14)
61. I have a fantastic memory for the sequence and details of events which leads to great storytelling.
62. I am 5’2”.
63. My husband is at least a foot taller than me.
64. I can say the alphabet backwards as fast as I can forward.
65. I love the smell of hot, fluffy sheets and towels right out of the dryer.
66. I like to cook but my husband does 90% of the cooking in our house.
67. I hate to go to the dentist but go every 6 months anyway because I am obsessive about my teeth.
68. My favorite constellation is Orion.
69. I want to learn to play the piano someday.
70. I love our new house.
71. I cry when I am frustrated and angry. (see #14)
72. It’s a toss-up on which I waste more time – TV or the Internet. Sometimes I waste time on both at the same time via laptop.
73. I LOVE my iPhone. L.O.V.E. I don’t know what I did before it.
74. I keep everything. I have shoeboxes full of stuff like letters, cards, artwork, objects, etc from when I was a little kid to today.
75. I have a hard time forcing myself to drink any water daily.
76. When it comes to savings and planning for the future, I am a grasshopper. My husband is an ant.
77. I love Softlips Cherry chapstick. It has been my go-to since high school.
78. For someone who rarely wears make-up, I own a lot of it.
79. I am envious of thin, fit people.
80. My “village” of girl friends in Seattle are the best you’ll ever find. I count myself lucky to call them friends.
81. I love lists. All kinds of lists ~ to do list, shopping lists, inventory lists, etc.
82. I had a falling out with one of the best friends I ever had and I miss her terribly.
83. I love hot showers. I will stand in the hottest shower I can stand until the hot water runs out.
84. I watch a lot of TV.
85. I like to take pictures. Especially of my kids.
86. I suffered from serious Post Partum Depression with my first child.
87. Scrapbooking is one of my very favorite things.
88. I love all the paper, paper, paper. And pretty embellishments.
89. The circus creeps me out.
90. I eat when I am bored.
91. Chocolate chip cookies are my favorite.
92. I am not a patient person, but having kids has forced me to work on that.
93. I like my job, but wouldn't work full-time if I didn't have to.
94. I am almost always running late.
95. I set all of my clocks and watches 10-15 minutes fast in the hopes of not being late. It doesn’t work.
96. I have 5 watches and all of them read a different time, none of them correct.
97. I like to sleep and think a daily nap in the afternoon is a God-given right.
98. We cloth diaper our new baby and I love it!
99. A pedicure is one sure way of lifting my mood. I ADORE pedicures.
100. It has taken me about 5 attempts to complete this current list. (see #29) 

 I wasn’t sure I could come up with a 100 interesting (or not so interesting) things about myself.
